The University of Dallas announces a position opening for a 3-year Tschoepe Chair of Homiletics to be in residence at the Institute for Religious and Pastoral Studies (IRPS) to begin July 1, 2005. The professor will both teach for IRPS, and act as a resource to the Roman Catholic dioceses of Dallas, Fort Worth, and Tyler. The teaching load for IRPS would consist of three three-credit graduate homiletics courses per year, one in each of the fall, spring, and summer terms. These courses would serve not only as electives for the Master in Theological Studies degree, but also as enrichment for anyone who wanted to take the course without being a degree-seeking student. The chair would also teach periodically in the deacon formation courses for which IRPS is responsible. Besides teaching for IRPS, the chair would also act as a resource to the local dioceses by coordinating three homiletics programs, one each year, at the University of Dallas. Each program would consist of a one-week workshop, designed for preachers to improve their homily skills. The position is funded for three years, subject to annual renewal, by the Tschoepe Institute. The Bishop Thomas Tschoepe Institute of Homiletics and Communications was founded in 1985. Its mission is to provide excellence in the training of men and women in the ministry of the word. Interested parties should submit by February 1, 2005 a cover letter, CV, and contact information for three references to:
